Shipdham Garden Club and Horticultural Society
The Shipdham Garden Club and Horticultural Society has been active within the Shipdham area since 1973.
The aim of the Society is to encourage interest in gardening and horticulture at all levels, providing entertainment, guidance and support in a friendly atmosphere.
We are affiliated to the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS), the Norfolk and Norwich Horticultural Society (NNHS) and the Dereham & District Allotment & Gardeners Society (DDAGS).
Meetings take place during most months of the year (except August) and are usually held in the W.I. Hall, Shipdham, on the first Thursday of the month. These can include guest speakers or members giving presentations, or group discussions on a wide variety of subjects with gardening and wildlife themes.
The Annual General Meeting, which appoints the Committee responsible for the day-to-day running of the Society and gives Members the opportunity to comment upon any aspect of the Society, is held on the first Thursday in October.
Details of our year’s calendar of events, is published on our website (www.SGCHS.co.uk), and on the Shipdham Post Office noticeboard.
Guests are welcome at any event.
In December we have our Christmas Party; our Annual Dinner takes place in January; In the Summer we have an outing with a gardening theme, as well as a Summer Social in a member’s garden.
We hold one show each year during the Summer. This is open to all to enter, although trophies are awarded to members only.
Our year runs from 1st October to 30th September with an annual membership fee of £6 per person.
